John Graf

Hello, my name is John Graf. I am an Agricultural Science teacher and FFA advisor at Plano West. I grew up in Vernon, TX which is 50 miles northwest of Wichita Falls. I grew up in and around agriculture all of my life as my both of my grandfathers were farmers and ranchers. My grandfather in Vernon grew cotton, wheat, and alfalfa, while my grandfather in Navarro county ran Brangus cattle. I was also very active in the Vernon FFA Chapter while I was in high school. I showed cattle, and participated on various Leadership and Career Development Event teams. I have worked for the Texas A&M Agricultural Experiment Station as well as the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation, and most recently after graduation from Texas A&M University, I worked for Tri-Tex Grass, a residential and commercial turf grass company in Pilot Point, TX and Bryan, TX. I'm proud to have worked in so many different areas of the Agriculture Industry. I feel that my experience helps me to inform all of our students about the many career possibilities in the Agriculture Sector.

I'm married to Cristen Graf, a lifetime resident of Plano. Cristen is also an Agricultural Science teacher at Plano West. She is a graduate of Plano East where she was also an active member of the Plano East FFA Chapter while she was in high school. I also have a daughter, Kenleigh Elizabeth, and a son, John William "JW".

I teach Veterinary Medical Applications and Wildlife at Plano West through 4th period, and I work at the Plano ISD Agricultural Project Center during the remainder of the school day. Aside from overseeing our facilities, and fleet of trucks and trailers, I also oversee the Plano ISD cattle projects along with Brent Love from Williams/McMillen High School. Also, at Plano West, I train several Leadership Development and Career Development teams including , senior quiz, senior skills, dairy cattle evaluation, and veterinary science. My goal is for all of our students to be as active as possible in our chapter in order for them to be prepared for life after graduation from Plano West.
